Maywood Riverfront Park Awarded $655,364 Measure A Dollars for Park Improvements

On February 23, 2022 The LA County Department of Parks and Recreation and the Regional Parks and Open Space District announced that Maywood Riverfront Park was awarded $655,364 dollars from Measure A to make park improvements. The City of Maywood, The Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust, and Communities for A Better Environment applied for the funding for general park improvements. East Yard Communities For Environmental Justice will be collaborating with the applicants to blend together the work that will be conducted under the Measure A grant and the Sleepy Lagoon Memorial project.

Measure A, passed in LA County in 2016, provides annual funding for parks and recreation projects across the county. Measure A was created with equity mind, and a significant portion of the funding goes towards projects located in high and very high park need areas such as in the Southeast LA communities.
